Character Development - Bagboy

After the initial sketches of the kid I developed him into something more; Bagboy

Research and Inspiration:

The second character of my film is Bagboy.

Bagboy is a slightly quirky, quite an eccentric sort of character, who in a way, counterbalances Sofia. The paper-bag on his head represents his shyness and his coyness, and inability to directly speak to Sofia and approach her in a more 'ordinary' way.

Here is the "initial sketch":

On the left is a fat chubby version, in the middle is a skinny (if slightly muscular) version, and to the right is the all round shape grammar of the character.

I then did some sketches and various shape poses, basically playing around with shape grammar and seeing how he looked in different ways;

I think this character has some real appeal, strangely a lot of the charm for me comes from his 2 black holes for eyes. The vest, shorts and flip flops look is sure to gather amusement from the audience, purely because it all goes so well with the rest of him! I'm really quite excited about working with this character, and it would be great to see him in action in a 3D space for sure.
