New Story Summary and Concept

After retooling the story and concept, I approached Hillary once again and this time my efforts were far more successful! Below is the revised story and setting.

BRIEF SUMMARY

CHARACTERS

SOFIA - A curious young baby-faced girl, with her well-kept golden hair, and light pink dress. She’s the kind of child who you can instantly connect with.

BAGBOY - He’s small, skinny, wears a vest and shorts and of course a Paper-bag on his head. He’s quite the expressive little fella considering he has a Paper-Bag on his head, and he’s head over heels for SOFIA.

SETTING

The film takes place in a very American-esque Farm setting. Everything is self contained in one set, a sprawling area which contains a main road, a ranch on one side, and on the other side a large hilly landscape.

PLOT

One day a small, skinny child with a Paper-Bag on his head finally plucks up the courage to ask out the girl of his “dreams”; Sofia, through the gesture of offering her a Kite. However, like all love stories our hero must be ready for rejection. Whilst Sofia allows Bagboy to tie his kite on the ranch fencing, as soon as Bagboy walks away, he sees his kite being cut down! Bagboy decides that all is not lost and remains persistent in his ever-amusing efforts, never letting down.

Eventually he gives it one more big final go, and puts together a kite unlike any he has offered to Sofia before. As he approaches his love that day, with a slight swagger of confidence, head held high, a sharp wind blows towards him and his incredible kite breaks…

Hurt and embarrassed, Bagboy thinks enough is enough and runs away from Sofia; watching him with the subtle hint of sadness and pity.

Time passes and Bagboy is sat alone, defeated, on the hilltop bench, looking out to the sunset….a kite comes up the sky, and another, then another, all the kites Sofia had rejected and cut down begin to fly high in the sky, and then more so. Bagboy is astounded and can’t believe what he’s seeing! Sofia approaches him soon enough, and offers him one final kite….the one that broke that very morning. Sofia offers her hand to Bagboy and the two walk off into the sunset, as the sky is filled with colourful kites.
